For more than four decades, G. James Miller III has devoted his career to music education, composition, arranging, and the performing arts. His work spans scholastic marching bands, concert ensembles, indoor percussion, drum corps, higher education, and professional media production.
A Career Dedicated to Music Education
Miller’s long association with Frank Scott Bunnell High School in Stratford, Connecticut, has been a defining part of his career. As Director of Instrumental Music, he led a comprehensive program encompassing marching band, concert band, wind ensemble, color guard, and indoor percussion.
Under his direction, Bunnell ensembles earned numerous competitive honors, including 22 Connecticut state championships, and performed at major national events, including the Tournament of Roses Parade.
In recognition of his contributions to education, Miller was named Stratford District Teacher of the Year in 2023.

Drum Corps & Percussion
Miller’s experience in the drum corps activity includes work with the Bridgemen, Star of Indiana, Bushwhackers, and Connecticut Hurricanes.
His work as a percussionist, instructor, and arranger has contributed to a wide range of competitive and educational ensembles.
He is also co-owner of DeLucia–Miller’s Drum Masters, a publishing venture devoted to percussion music.
Composition, Arranging & Film
As a composer and arranger, Miller has created music for marching bands, percussion ensembles, and other performing groups.
His professional work extends into film and media. He served as a musical arranger and consultant for the Disney feature film Chang Can Dunk, collaborating with the film’s creative team.
Higher Education & Academic Background
Beyond the high school classroom, Miller has taught music theory through the University of Connecticut’s Early College Experience program and percussion at Fairfield University.
